Dining at Padda Care

Mealtimes are such an important part of our resident’s day. It’s a time when they can choose to come together and enjoy eating a bygone favourite meal like toad in the hole which can bring back memories, raise a comment, smile and a few words or a conversation. Equally it is the choice of our residents if they wish to dine alone with one other, or with friends or family. This can be arranged through the home.

We recognise the importance of considering that our residents living with Dementia will struggle to maintain a balanced diet. Often someone with dementia may find certain colours, textures or smells off-putting or sometimes eat certain foods they previously would not have. An increasingly sweet tooth is common as well as not eating enough or drinking enough can increase the risk of dehydration, weight loss and other related health problems.

Our Cooks actively work with our care staff and take pride in their ability of knowing our residents likes, dislikes and tastes. They are creative and adept in producing a varied variety of flavourful home-made traditional classics to tempt all appetites using fresh vegetables and produce to meet each individual resident’s dietary and nutritional needs. We incorporate calorific meals, sauces, and desserts to address weight loss, high -fibre snacks with access to fresh fruit throughout the day and a variety of hot drinks, fruit juices and squash to maintain good levels of hydration.

We have varied food events running throughout the month and often a themed dinner where curries are enjoyed, stews are savoured and pie with mash adored.

Leisure Facilities

Other facilities within the home offer quiet areas for residents to spend time with loved ones and friends. Several toilets are situated in the ground floor for easy access for residents and visitors. A treatment room is also situated on the ground floor. A fully functional hair salon can be found just inside the entrance hall. Provisions have been made for a beauty therapist to attend the home weekly to provide nail care. The services of a chiropodist will be available for those who require foot care. The home has its own mini bus with designated drivers, this will allow the residents to access the community and enjoy trips out.
