Specialist Dementia Care
Great thought and consideration are taken to ensure our Residential Dementia homes are decorated in such a way it offers stimulation and greater clarity to the residents who choose to live with us. We have worked with Professional interior designers to furnish and decorate our homes, to look at ways the environment could enhance the lives of our residents.
Great emphasis has been put upon the colour scheme, lighting and wall coverings, the use of small amounts of patterns to enhance areas, signage and visual aids around the home all play an integral part in creating an environment that allows its residents to maintain independence and access familiar areas.
Much research has been undertaken around the use of colour and how a person living with dementia perceives areas within their environment. It has been discovered that white walls floors toilet seats and doors and corridors can confuse and disorientate those with dementia, use of small patterns, pastel colours and points of reference can benefit residents and offer clarity.
All areas throughout the home are bespoke and in line with Dementia Care Best Practice by this, we mean tailoring a person’s care to their interest’s abilities history and personality.
Padda Care Homes are dedicated to promoting the rights of the residents and recognising that each person is unique and are individuals.
This will enable them to take part in the things they enjoy and can be an effective way of preventing, managing behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. Our ethos is backed with evidenced-based research from the model used by The Wicking Centre/Dementia Research and Educational Centre.
